A simple DVI cable can be used to connect external monitors to your Apple system

Final Cut Pro is a video editing application designed by Apple. It has many features for professional and amateur editors alike, including the ability to output a video signal to an external monitor while still using the Apple computer screen as a monitor. The external monitor can be used to provide a large visual work surface for an editor, or to enable people not sitting directly at the computer to see what is being edited during the editing process.

Instructions

1. Connect your DVI cable to the DVI output on your Apple computer.

2. Connect the RGB plugs to the input marked RGB on the rear of the Sony HR Triniton monitor. Be sure to correct the correct coloured plugs to the same colored inputs. For example, the red plug connects to the red input.

3. Start Final Cut Pro, and select “Final Cut Pro” from the menu options. Then, choose “Audio/Video Settings”.

4. Check that your system has detected the DVI output by clicking on the drop down box beside “Video Playback”. If you do not see four sets of options here, restart Final Cut Pro.

5. Select “Digital Cinema Desktop – Fullscreen” from the dropdown menu to send your full screen output to the external Sony monitor.
