Use Nero To Edit Moviemaker Files

Nero Vision lets you edit and burn videos that you made with Windows Movie Maker.

Windows Movie Maker lets you create and edit videos in the WMV format. Nero Multimedia Suite 10 comes with a digital video editing program called Nero Vision. This program lets you edit videos from Windows Movie Maker, as well as several other common formats. You can create your own DVDs from these videos, add special effects and transitions or convert the videos to a different format.

Instructions

1. Open Nero Vision and click “Make Movie or Slide Show” on the welcome screen. Choose a title for your video in the “Movie name” field and choose any additional settings that you would like. Click “OK.” (See Reference 1, page 61)

2. Click “Import” and “Import Files” in the upper right area of the “Video Editing” screen. Choose your Windows Movie Maker video and click “Open” to add the video to the timeline. (See Reference 1, page 61)

3. Select the “Scissors” icon to the right of the timeline if you would like to cut out parts of the video. Use the “Preview” box to adjust the length of your video and see the results. Use the “Effects Palette” to add special effects, text or transitions within your video. To add an effect, drag the effect down to the area on the timeline where you want the effect to occur in the video. Click the “Storyboard” tab to add transitions between frames. 4. Click “Export” near the bottom of the window and choose “Export video to file” on the window that appears. Choose the file type to save the video and click “Export.” (See Reference 1, page 75)
