Use Fraps To Record Windows

Fraps is a screen recording application that can be used to record your usage of Windows. You can toggle Fraps on at any time and record exactly what happens to be on your screen at that moment. This software is quite useful if you want to show someone perform a task in Windows or demonstrate troubleshooting techniques to a wider audience.

Instructions

1. Go to Fraps.com. Click “Download” from the navigation menu and select “Download Fraps.” Double click “setup.exe” once it downloads to your system.

2. Click “I agree.” Click “Next” and “Install.” Click “Start” and “All Programs,” then select “Fraps” and “Fraps” again to launch the program.

3. Click “Movies.” Click “Change” if you need to select a different folder to hold the Windows recording you plan to make.

4. Change the video capture frames per second (FPS) settings, if needed. You can adjust this setting many different ways. Choose whether or not to record computer and microphone sound. Click your mouse in the video capture field. Press the key you wish to assign to begin recording in one step.

5. Minimize Fraps. Go to the Windows function you need to record and press “F9” or the hotkey you set in configuration. Fraps begins recording what’s happening on your screen. Press “F9” again to stop the recording when you finish.
