Transfer Video From A Jvc Hard Disk Camcorder To A Pc

JVC has become the pioneer of Hard Disk Drive (HDD) camcorders. HDD camcorders do not employ the use of video tapes. Instead, they save each video as a file on an internal hard drive, allowing you to transfer them from your camera to your computer for viewing and/or editing.

1. Locate the USB output on your HDD camcorder. This is labeled within your owner’s manual and varies according to model. On the GZ-HD3, the USB output is located near the front and to the left of the lens. On newer models such as the GZ-HD40 it can be found near the back.

2. Connect the smaller end of the USB cable into the camcorder’s USB output.

Connect the larger end into your PC’s USB input.

3. Turn on your camera. If it was already on, turn it off and then turn it back on.

4. Select “EXPORT TO PC” on the menu that should pop up on the camera’s LCD screen. The exact wording may vary according to model but the function will be the same.

5. If you are not automatically prompted to open a file folder, select “Start” then “Computer”, then “JVC EVERIO” (most HDD models are Everios, if not it will have that particular model’s name). A folder that contains the video files on your camera’s hard drive. Copy and paste these files onto a separate folder on your computer for viewing later.
