Summer Camps In Maryland For Teens

Teens get to experience new activities at summer camp.

Summer camp is a time for youth to blossom on their own, as they experience personal growth and learn new things. Teenagers can benefit from the camp experience in a number of ways, from learning increased independence and leadership skills to building friendships that will last a lifetime. For many, camp is their first time away from home. Maryland hosts hundreds of summer camps, from Christian sleepaway camps to sports day camps. While some cater strictly to younger children, many have programs specifically aimed at teens.

Camp Wabanna

Camp Wabanna is a non-denominational Christian camp located on the Chesapeake Bay. Numerous activities are offered to those who attend its sleepaway programs. Teens have the opportunity to participate in activities such as kayaking, sailing, rock climbing, arts and crafts, archery, swimming and field trips. The overnight program is offered to teens up to age 15. A one-week overnight session each summer is devoted to teens from 11 to 18. For those between the ages of 15 and 17, the camp runs a Leaders in Training (LIT) program. This program focuses on mentoring of junior campers, Bible study, team-building activities and community service. LIT sessions last for one week.
