You need an installation disc to install Creative Suite 4.
Adobe Creative Suite 4 (CS4) includes many new features, one of the most important of which is a 64-bit version of Photoshop. On computers with 64-bit processors and a 64-bit version of Windows, this version of Photoshop operates faster and handles large amounts of memory better than the standard program. The installation process isn’t much different than that for previous versions or for a regular 32-bit installation; there’s just an extra component involved.
1. Insert the Creative Suite 4 installation disc into your computer’s CD/DVD-ROM drive. If you used Adobe’s download service, double-click the installer file in the download folder.
2. Enter the serial number from the retail packaging or your email receipt. Click “Accept.”
3. Click “Easy Install” to install all parts of the Creative Suite. If you only need some programs, select “Custom Install.” Leave “Photoshop CS4 64-Bit” enabled — it’s the only program in the CS4 suite that takes advantage of 64-bit versions of Windows.
4. Wait for the installation process to finish. This could take between 30 minutes and an hour. When the process is done, eject the CD/DVD. If you downloaded CS4 from Adobe, copy the installer file to a safe location in case you buy a new computer or the current installation is damaged.
