Import Handycams To Laptops

Handycams are dropping in price and increasing in quality.

As technology improves, Handycams are dropping in price. At the same time, the quality of the video they produce is increasing. Previously, users had to install expensive video editing software to edit their home videos. However, both Microsoft and Apple have integrated digital video capturing and editing software into their operating systems.

Instructions

Windows 7

1. Download and install Windows Live Essentials.

2. Connect the Handycam to the computer. A microUSB cord is supplied with the Handycam for this purpose.

3. Open Windows Live Picture Gallery. An option to automatically open this program should come up when the Handycam is connected. However, it can also be accessed from the “Programs” list in the “Start” menu.

4. Click on “Files” and select “Import from Camera or Scanner.”

5. Select the Handycam from the list if there are multiple media sources. Click “Import.” The video will automatically import or the program will ask the user to select which videos to import.

Mac OS X

6. Connect the Handycam to the computer. Use the provided microUSB cord.

7. Open “iMovie.” It is available in the “Applications” folder.

8. Click on “File” and select “Import from Camera…”

9. Choose the video source and press “Import.” The video will start importing or the program will ask the user to select which video files to import.
