Grants For Audio Engineering Schools

Training to become an audio engineer can cost many thousands of dollars. Whether you attend a fully accredited four-year university or a specialized technical school, the educational costs for most sound recording programs can be well beyond the reach of many prospective students. Fortunately, there are a number of scholarships and grants that are available to talented students who wish to study in the field of audio engineering.

AES Educational Foundation

The Audio Engineering Society Educational Foundation offers grants for graduate level studies in the field of professional audio. They accept applications from students worldwide who have successfully completed an undergraduate degree program at a recognized college or university and who have applied or been accepted to a graduate or masters level program.

TEC Foundation

The TEC Foundation for Excellence in Audio awards the TEC (Teaching Excellence & Creativity) Awards Scholarship to help advance the audio, music or media communications education of two to three students each year. The TEC Foundation also endows scholarships at leading music and recording schools throughout the U.S., and also provides annual grants to the Audio Engineering Society Educational Foundation and the Professional Audio Recording Services.

The Charlie Jones Scholarship

Charlie Jones was a successful audio engineer, teacher and mentor to many younger engineers. Since his death in 2006, the School of Sound Recording in Manchester, England, offers a yearly scholarship in his honor, which is open to applicants to the Audio Engineering course.

Berklee College of Music

All applicants and returning students to a Berklee College of Music degree or diploma program, including the school’s Music Production and Engineering major, are automatically considered for scholarships. The school offers various merit-based scholarships in the form of partial- and full-tuition awards to exceptionally gifted musicians who complete a live audition process.
