Adobe Photoshop Creative Suite 2 (CS2) is the second in a series of programs used for graphic design, Web design, photo editing and video editing. It’s available in both a standard and premium edition. The standard edition includes Adobe Bridge, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop and Version Cue. The premium edition adds Adobe Acrobat Professional, Dreamweaver and GoLive. CS2 is designed for use by anyone from beginner to expert. You can download a trial version of it, which lasts 30 days, and then you have to pay if you want to continue using it. According to CNET.com in 2010, it costs $599 to unlock.
1. Open the trial version of Adobe Photoshop CS2 on your computer. If you haven’t yet downloaded and installed the trial version, visit either CNET.com (see Resources) or Adobe’s website to do so. Be sure you choose the Mac version when downloading.
2. Select “Purchase…” on the Adobe Activation menu that pops up after your program loads. You’ll see it on the bottom left, beneath the information about how long you have left of your free trial. When you click the “Purchase…” button, it will open your Web browser to Adobe’s purchase page.
3. Fill out your billing information, and you will receive a serial number. Write this down and return to your CS2 program, which should still have the Adobe Activation menu open. If you’ve closed it, just exit the program and re-enter it, and the menu will return.
4. Enter your serial number in the boxes provided under the words “Activate with My Serial Number,” then select “Activate Online.” Your Web browser will open again, confirming your activation, and your product will be ready to use. If you’d rather activate your serial number via phone, instead of selecting “Activate Online,” select “Activation Options” which will provide you with a phone number to call. The representative who answers will have you read your serial number, and will activate your program.
