Convert Pdf Files To Jpg With Open Source Software

Portable Document Format (PDF) was first developed by Adobe in 1993. A PDF can contain text, images and even vector graphics. It is the most common file format used for eBooks, due to its ability to allow users to scroll through a document page by page, like a real book. PDF’s are typically large files and require a PDF viewer or editor, like Adobe Acrobat to be opened. However, by converting a PDF to a JPG, you can reduce the file size and make the document viewable on any computer without the need for additional software. There is an open source program called GIMP that can convert a PDF to JPG.

1. Download and install the latest version of GIMP (see Resources). GIMP is free to download and works on both Windows and Macintosh computers.

2. Launch GIMP and click File > Open. Navigate to your PDF file and click Open.

3. Click on the File menu again and select Save As. Select JPEG as the file type. Click Save.
