Convert Dvd With Menu & Chapters To Divx

Convert DVD With Menu & Chapters to Divx

DivX movies are usually encoded as AVIs, a standard format for downloaded movies off the Internet. There is no native software for PC and Mac users that comes with their system. There are several programs for PC and Macs that can decode DVDs with chapters and menus (these are known as VOB files) to a number of formats, including AVIs. Please note that because DVDs are encoded as high-quality MPEG-2s, converting and compressing them to AVIs may result in a loss of audio/visual quality due to compression standards.

MPEG Streamclip Conversion

1. Download and install MPEG Streamclip. Agree to the licensing terms and open.

2. Add your DVD files to MPEG Streamclip by clicking “File” and “Open Folder.” Locate your DVD’s Video TS files and open them in MPEG Streamclip. If MPEG Streamclip won’t open all your TS files at once, you will need to manually select the VOB file(s) you want converted (the largest VOB file will contain the actual movie).

3. Click “File” and select “Export to AVI.” Choose your compression and quality settings, as well as your frame size, based on your needs. Click “Make Movie” to begin the conversion, which will take anywhere from several minutes to several hours.

HandBrake Conversions

4. Download and install HandBrake for free from its website. Launch HandBrake and insert your DVD. If HandBrake does not automatically read the DVD, click the “Source” icon to manually find your DVD’s contents.

5. Select the chapters or tracks you want converted and choose your file’s output destination by clicking the “Browse…” icon.

10. Click the “Convert” button in the lower right-hand corner of your screen to begin converting.
