Completely Remove Roxio Creator

Roxio Creator is a series of digital video editor and DVD burner software. The software comes in a regular edition and “Pro” edition. You may need to completely remove Roxio Creator in order to install a new version of the software or due to problems running the uninstaller. In order to completely uninstall Roxio Creator, you must perform a series of actions, including modifying the registry. Do not perform this task if you are uncomfortable making changes to the registry, and always backup the registry prior to altering it.

Instructions

1. Click on “Start.” In the “Start Search” field, enter “msconfig.” Press the “Enter” key. In Windows XP, click on “Start,” then “Run.” Enter “msconfig.exe,” and press “Enter.

2. Select the “Startup” tab.

3. Click on the “Disable all” button.

4. Click on “Apply,” then “OK.”

5. Click “Start.” Press the “Shut Down” button, and select “Restart.”

6. Click on “Start,” then “Control Panel.” Click on “Classic View” in the left column.

7. Open “Programs and Features” in Windows Vista or “Add/Remove Programs” in Windows XP.

8. Double-click the “Roxio Easy Media Creator” program. Follow the on-screen prompts to uninstall the program. Repeat for each program with “Roxio” or “Sonic” in the title.

9. Click on “Start.” Select the “Shut Down” button again. Choose “Restart.”

10. Click on “Start,” then “Computer” or “My Computer.” In Windows Vista, click on “Organize,” then “Folder and Search Options.” In Windows XP, select “Tools,” then “Folder Options.”

11. Click on the “View” tab. Find and click on “Show hidden files and folders.” Click on “Apply,” then “OK.”

12. Search for and delete the following folders in Windows Vista:

C:\Program Files\Roxio

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Roxio Shared

C:\Users\Your_Username\App Data\Local\Roxio

C:\Users\Your_Username\App Data\Roaming\Roxio

Delete the follow folders if using Windows XP:

C:\Program Files\Roxio

C:\Program Files\Sonic

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Roxio Shared

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Sonic Shared

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Roxio

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Sonic

C:\Documents and Settings\Your_Username\Application Data\Roxio

C:\Documents and Settings\Your_Username\Application Data\Sonic

C:\Documents and Settings\Your_Username\Local Settings\Application Data\Roxio

Note that the “Your_Username” folder will show your actual username.

13. Empty the Recycling Bin by right-clicking on it and selecting “Empty.”

14. Click on “Start.” Enter “regedit” in the “Start Search” field. Press “Enter.”

15. Expand the “HKEY_CURRENT_USER” branch in the left column by clicking on the triangle.

16. Expand the “Software” folder. Find and right-click on the “Roxio” folder. Left-click on “Delete.” Find and right-click on the “Sonic” folder, if present. Left-click on “Delete.”

17.Find and expand “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.”

18. Find and expand “Software.” Right-click on the “Roxio” folder, then left-click on “Delete.” Right-click on the “Sonic” folder, if present, and left-click on “Delete.” Click on “File” in the menu bar, then “Exit.”

19. Restart the computer.
